Like any respectable DJ worth their weight in vinyl, Vivie-Ann really knows how to work a room. Along with the taste-making mixes she drops nightly on dance floors across the world, the 23-year-old Montreal DJ carries a reputation for orchestrating a spectacular fusion of mischief, music and mayhem. Glitter pranks, moustache parties and bananas that double as phone devices. Even pepperoni pizzas perfectly matched on turntables. Nothing is sacred – except the music. Although she hides her seriousness about the industry fairly well, the girl gets down behind the booth and more recently in the studio.

A six-year student of conservatory piano and a graduate of McGill University’s computer science program, she has the musical education of a mathematically-inclined composer hell-bent on moving mountains in dance music. Her sets cover everything house with a hint of ping or pong – anything that makes hands fly in the air or bouncing to the beat with a perma-smile. She’ll very likely surprise you with her choice of classics. When asked to describe her sound, Vivie-Ann rattles off the description “bump in the night with a little dynamite,” a twinkle in her eye, adding that her sets could also be called “morally immoral.”

With a list of star-studded gigs, appearances and guest spots under her belt, including clients like Cirque du Soleil, Budapest Love Parade and MTV Europe, she currently holds residencies at some of the most celebrated hotspots across the globe, including (but not limited to) Palladium in Acapulco, Hulala in Rome Mokai in Miami, and last year in Ibiza @ Penelope.

The former prom queen has lent her sexy blend of house music to the Fuck Me I’m Famous Party with David Guetta and Bob Sinclair, the Brahma Beer Tour, the Toronto Film Fest and an unlikely collaboration with the Metro 7 clothing line launch for Wal-Mart® that resulted in a massive amount of dirty dancing in the discount superstore’s Miami Beach location.

She has also worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, but we won’t bore you with the laundry list of who’s who. We will tell you about her upcoming releases so you can support them. In October 2006, her first major remix release, an amped-up version of Kobbe & Austin Leed’s “Bodyshaker,” produced alongside witty studio partner Maher KD, was released on Peter Rauhofer’s Star69 Record Label. Other releases are due out on Pure Substance and Mile End Records in early 2007. In the mean time look out for her quirky edits.

Most recently, Vivie-Ann is concentrating on a production journey with her partner, DJ Kevin Barnett for their DJ collective, 02music, and the launch of their new DJ-inclined clothing line, ADD (Addicted DJ Designs).

For Vivie-Ann, it’s a natural progression. She lives for the moment when she converts yet another dance floor, another listener or another participant in this journey we call house.

He was born in the United Kingdom and lived in Spain and the USA before settling in Canada in 1989. In 1994 Max discovered house music, which soon led to his contribution to the Canadian dance music scene. He started his professional production career in 2000, having played house music for ten years previously in Ottawa, Canada at the well-known Atomic night club. His first two releases, “Airtight” and “Tell You” helped him become well-known around the world, and led to him being asked to mix the popular Transport series in 2001. A world tour followed, which furthered his popularity across the globe.

In addition to the release, Max has also since his returned remixed for a DMC mix album, and is set to have two songs released on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Recordings label.

While keeping in step with his own brand of dark and sexy House, Montreal DJ Danny Torrence believes that all good records should be mixed regardless of the genre. It is this instilled belief that allows Danny to uplift, inspire and rock the dance floor like few others. Danny’s artistic vision is exceedingly broad, touching on many different styles including deep house, tribal and techno. All of these elements combined are what makes Danny’s fans describe him as “powerful and eclectic”.

In 2004, Danny Torrence became a resident at the internationally acclaimed after hours Stereo Nightclub in Montreal, leading up to his first extended set to the delight of his fans and newcomers alike. The party was “Dirty 30”, a monumental occasion for Danny as it created much deserved recognition from his fans and peers alike. As one of three local Montreal DJ’s to behold a Stereo Residency, Danny plays alongside greats such as David Morales, Victor Calderone, Hector Romero and DJ Vibe, just to name a few. Stereo is also the stomping ground for his own night: Climaxxx, a smashing bi-monthly where Danny takes his fans on an all night journey.

Torrence also holds a monthly residency at Red-Lite, one of Canada’s longest running after hours that has been pumping for 11 years and counting. Undeniably impressed by Danny’s unparalleled sound, Red-Lite chose him to represent the compilation that is third in the club’s series, “RED-LITE SERIES 3 mixed by Danny Torrence”. “Everything from house to the deeper stuff had to come across on this CD. When I play, I want my sets to be seamless. The music can travel anywhere from the peak-time stuff, to a set’s deeper & sensual moments.” Montreal’s most prestigious clubs can’t get enough of Danny’s full throttle beats, which is why he not only maintains some of the most wanted after hours residencies, he also still finds time in his busy schedule to hold residencies at House Night Club and Unity.

Danny’s passion for music and his hard work earned him an invite to Bal en Blanc 2006 (White Party), held annually to 15,000 punters in Montreal, to work his dance appeal amongst some of the hottest DJ’s in the world today (Deep Dish, Peter Rauhofer, David Guetta). His unique vibe set the stage for his innovative set at Resolution, New Year’s Eve 2006, at the Bell Centre in Montreal. This massive production put on by Godskitchen & Bal en Blanc which included among others, heavy hitters such as Tiesto and Victor Calderone, was an amazing start to the year for him. Danny was asked to step in at the last minute to fill Tiesto’s slot rather than close the party as he was originally asked and was received to rave reviews…. Give this man a room and he will work it!

2005 was a banner year for Danny on an international level, as he maintained gigs in clubbing hot spots such as Ibiza, Miami and Sicily, where he played alongside DJ superstar Paul Oakenfold. Danny also grooved his sweet and sexy sound at Crobar (NYC), Asseteria (NYC), Sonic (Toronto), Fly (Toronto), Rise (Boston) and Terminal (Quebec City).

The goals are set very high for Danny Torrence, who aside from his residences at the hottest clubs in Montreal and traveling the world over, is focusing on production in 2007. Danny is living proof that if you love what you do and feel it deep inside, there are no boundaries. With an open mind and an intuition that embraces music for what it is, we’re all staying tuned to see what’s next!
