Jonny White’s production can be described as deep, organic minimal/techno filled with strange & unique strings, synths and sounds, slick fluid percussion and unmistakable dark emotion. Behind the decks Jonny is able to flow seamlessly from one sound to the next.. from deep sexy & minimal to explosive edgy tech putting as much emphasis on mixing as he does programming. This is more than apparent in a series of mixes White has released in 2006/2007 continually setting the standard for minimal dj sets.
2007 proved to be a defining year for Jonny White with his work being remixed by some of the industry’s most relevant artists, records signed to labels like Connect Four /Tic Tac Toe (Denmark), the birth of his net-radioshow “RCR”, produced by the Red Circle Collective (Kenny Glasgow, Nitin, Teeloo’s Kitchen & Jonny White) and invitations to play at some of the world’s most prestigious international events such as the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, DEMF and the BPM conference in Playa Del Carmen.
With the new year comes, new studio collaberations, new releases, a new residency with Embrace Entertainment, and a new brand…. “No.19″. Set to launch on March 20′th with Peace Division @ Peter Gaishen’s Circa Nightclub in Toronto, No.19 is fathered by Jonny White, his close friend and dj partner Nitin, and Most Wanted Entertainment’s Jazz Spinder. The No.19 imprint while fucussing mainly on house and techno, is built to showcase influencial and unique artists from all genres and parts of the world through events, and soon through the No.19 record label.
With support from the tightly knit crew of dj’s and producers who make up Red Circle, friends, fans, praise from fellow producers around the world and the time to further develop and solidify his niche sound, Jonny looks onward to the future with a defined plan and eager eyes.
“I would much rather do something new and expose somebody to something they’ve never heard before rather than play something because its been proven safe and I’m guaranteed a positive reaction. Its my job as a DJ to find new music for you, not to push what everyone else is selling. It’s a very slow process introducing something different into the norm and turning people on to new sounds but I’m no rush… I’ve got nothin’ else to do… ”
